questions without limits, answers without judgement… welcome to the conversation x

who (even) are we?

my name is Alexandra Akins, I graduated from the University of Oxford in Summer ‘25 as the first person in my family to do so. I’m a track athlete with dreams of running for Grenada, and in my spare time, I write poetry and listen to (a lot of) Taylor Swift.

whilst I grew up Christian, I never had a personal relationship with Jesus, but that changed whilst I was at uni. (I speak a lot about my uni experience on my personal insta (alexjoyakins)).

I didn’t encounter Jesus fully in a church building, or speaking to people throwing verses at me, I found him at my lowest, when I didn’t want to be here, and through people who just sat and met me in that darkness.

Jesus Wore Birks isn’t a conversion camp or a place for proving who’s right, it’s a space I think so many people like me are desperately searching for: a safe space to ask big questions, like ‘if a God exists, why am I depressed?’, ‘why do such awful things happen in the world when God is apparently full of love?’ and ‘if God heals, why do so many innocent people die?’ as well as so many others.

I don’t have all the answers- and that’s kinda the point- but I can make room for all these questions and more. In my search for these answers, I found Jesus, and even though it hasn’t been easy, I’ve never looked back.

I hope you’ll come along on this journey with me, and that whatever you find, you’ll take something positive away.

welcome to the conversation, I am SO excited you’re here!

Why jesus wore birks?

Picture the scenes, me walking down the street, trying to figure out what to call the podcast (serious but not too serious vibes ygm).

I looked down at my feet and I was wearing a pair of Birks. I turned to my mate and said ‘if Jesus were here right now, you can’t tell me he wouldn’t be rocking these?’

And boom- the name was born.

Be a part of our journey.

Whatever you can give makes a difference... we’re building a generation unafraid to explore their faith, and we need your help!

thank you in advance for whatever you can donate x
